If you are looking for the fastest way to whiten your teeth, specialized treatment from your dentist is the best option.  For a super effective treatment at the dental clinic, a concentrated bleaching gel can be applied to your teeth and activated by a special light or laser beam.  This technology brings absolutely spectacular results. In many cases only one treatment is needed to give you the smile of a movie star.  If your teeth are overly stained or yellow a few treatments may be required to achieve the desired result. One treatment lasts from 30 to 60 minutes and it is done at the dental clinic.

Here’s what happens when you visit your dentist for an express treatment:

• First your teeth are cleaned and polished with a pumice stone. Polishing is important because it prepares the surface of the tooth to accept the product, multiplying its effectiveness. All plaque and rubble are removed from the enamel surface.

• A barrier is then applied to the gum line, so that the whitening gels activated by light or laser won’t touch, or just slightly, the sensitive mucous membranes forming the gums.

• Some professionals will isolate the mouth with gauze, so that the teeth remain dry. The lips and tongue should not come in contact with the bleaching solution.

• The bleaching solution is applied, generally with splints.  According to the dentist, the formula may contain hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide.  Unlike in treatments found OTC, the formula here is highly concentrated; hence the importance of isolating the sensitive areas of the mouth. This concentrated gel provides maximum results.

• A special light or laser is then used to activate the whitening agent of the formula by heating. The result is even more spectacular.  The teeth whitening formula is then left over the teeth from 30 to 60 minutes, as recommended by the manufacturer.

• At the end of treatment the mount is well rinsed his mouth. The dentist may recommend using toothpaste that reduces tooth sensitivity for the next few days following treatment for it can make the teeth sensitive to heat and cold for a while.

To protect your smile, dentists recommend that you to pay attention to certain foods containing more pigment more susceptible to stain teeth. For example, tomato sauce, red wine, tea and coffee.  Daily use of whitening toothpaste will help maintain the whiteness of your teeth and reduce the need to visit your dentist for teeth whitening treatments.
