Nowadays having yellow teeth is no longer unsolvable problem.  With so many treatments available on the market there’s no reason to suffer from a yellow smile. The range of services varies according to our budget and the efforts we’re willing to invest to get results.  Laser teeth whitening if one of those methods you can chose to improve your smile and it’s gaining popularity by the year. But is laser teeth whitening safe?

Here’s an overview of a laser teeth whitening session:

The dentist begins by cleaning the teeth thoroughly. A good descaling followed by a polishing session will ensure that the teeth are clean and in the best condition to fully benefit from the whitening product.  The specialist will then apply the teeth whitening gel which contains a high proportion of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. The gel is generally placed in a splint placed against the teeth.  The teeth are then exposed to the laser light that will activate the whitening gel. The session usually lasts from 30 minutes to an hour.  The laser can whiten your teeth up to 10 shades, which is exceptional.  More than one session could be required if the teeth are really yellow or heavily stained. For example the use of tobacco can cause stains that are difficult to remove.

Can we undertake laser whitening if we gave sensitive teeth?  Yes. Since the laser teeth whitening treatment can generally be completed in a single session, the effects on tooth sensitivity will be reduced or even almost non-existent. In the worst cases some discomfort and sensitivity to hot or cold can be observed over a few days after treatment, but no more. Using toothpaste for sensitive teeth can solve the problem quickly.

However, whitening teeth by laser comes at a price. The equipment needed for this technology is expensive, hence a higher bill.  But the technique is gaining in popularity and more and more professional buy the equipment, so the costs tend to decline.  The price of laser teeth whitening ranges from 300$ to 2000$, depending on the area and whether the operation is performed in one session or more. But for many peoples, the quick results coupled with the pride of displaying the smile of a movie star, largely justify the expense.  Laser teeth whitening at the dentist; we like!
